We are affected by how the people in our lives view us, for better or worse. If everyone you meet views you as talented or beautiful, you will shine in those areas, without difficulty. That makes it easier to succeed at the things the people in your life reflect positively back to you. Of course, when everyone complains that you’re not good in one area, it can make it difficult to ever see yourself as good, even if you actually are fantastic.
You could have the best racing horse in the world, and shop it around to car dealerships and they will not want it or would purchase it for cheap, to re-sell for a glue factory. A horse is not valued by a car dealership, but it would be valued at a racing track. Many of us grew up not being valued for things we do extraordinarily well. But, so few of us are willing or able to understand that we would be valued by others if we were in the correct environment. The way others view us matters.
I wanted to write about how much viewing someone as if they are mature matters, but I’m going to get personal here, so that’s going behind the paywall. I hope you’ll find this interesting, because so many immature people are running around as adults and there’s a reason for that, but it’s not something that couldn’t be fixed with enough people doing the work to raise their children to maturity.
