I want to apologize to my fellow Americans. I live in Illinois, already “bought and sold” to the Democratic cabal. I’ve been fairly straightforward in my support for President Trump and have gotten much flack including some from family members. I worked as an election judge in a precinct where I was only one of two males and the only white person. None of this should matter, but here in C(r)ook County IL, race and gender seem to be the coins of the realm. Yesterday was a 5 AM to 9 PM day and I went home pretty tired and worried about the outcome. I purposely didn’t turn on the TV and went to bed. When I woke today the house was quiet and I asked my wife, “Did someone win?” When she told me “Trump” I threw my hands in the air and thanked God. So, to my fellow citizens, I apologize for doubting you. Courage, common sense, and the ability to filter out the lies saved the day. Thank you my brothers and sisters! Now the hard work begins. God bless President Trump! May he have learned from his struggles and pick good people to help him and make good choices. And may all the rest of the country benefit from what will happen over the next 4 years. 🇺🇸❤️🤞🏻👍🏻🙏🏻😁
Sadly there was a lot of voter apathy during the recall of Gavin Newsom in 2022 from people who were genuinely frustrated with all he did but believed the election was so rigged against the recall. In many ways, the recall was rigged, especially on the money and propaganda from the Corporate Press but these folks were in areas where the state is still solid Republican or moderate Democrat so their votes *had* worked in previous elections.
"people have been demoralized" - Yes! That seems clear to me. A huge number have "lost the spirit to fight". The battle is over before it's even started.
Another reason to vote in this election in such large numbers is to show the US citizens that we have not lost our wills, and perhaps to give back that spirit.
Absolutely! A huge voter turnout would be a great demonstration of "we have had enough, it's time for a change". Unfortunately I'm a bit pessimistic at this point and feel like in general the people have lost their will. They simply aren't willing to resist anymore. Effective resistance has to come from a vocal minority.
The "slap in the face" aspect of winning the popular vote is an excellent point. As long as a candidate wins only the electoral college, but loses the popular vote, there is an appearance that the people don't support the president (or didn't choose the president). Hopefully with Kennedy, Gabbard and Musk we will see a tidal wave of support and perhaps the country can rally, instead of bicker, after the election?
There really are two messages from not voting:
1) Apathy
2) Protest (refusal to support / participate in the system)
Thanks for commenting. I appreciate it. I believe that people who do not vote, choose to not vote because they refuse to support or participate in the system. My point in this article is that the elected officials don't take it that way, they take it as APATHY or ACCEPTANCE and will not work with those people's best interests in mind because they figure they don't care enough to vote against them.
I'm not saying it's moral, or right, etc. But that's the way it works. The politicians will not receive message two from a non-vote.
Part of the reason I wrote this was because I think those people who don't vote should re-consider their decision since a non-vote doesn't get "heard" by the politicians. Their "protest" actually doesn't protest anything.
Yes! I really appreciate this train of thought. I'm frustrated by friends that advocate just "dropping out". Certainly I understand their viewpoint and I largely agreed with them before 2020. But when the tyrants directly attack my freedom, health and income - well, that's when I start trying to do everything I can to fix this disaster!
The four boxes of liberty is a 19th-century American idea that proposes: "There are four boxes to be used in the defense of liberty: soap, ballot, jury, and cartridge. Please use in that order."
We maintain order in this country if we feel like we can speak (soapbox), then speak through the ballot box otherwise. This is how to speak back, or strike back when people come to destroy your liberty. It gets bad when we don't have the jury box. I know that's not doing so well in a few cases. But another reason to vote for Trump is possibly getting a better Supreme Court Judge pick.

I was shocked that so few people took part in that. People have been demoralized.

Yes, the "message" isn't being received!

It's a great important conversation.
Let's put those "boxes" to use! (except the last one unless absolutely necessary!)
