Thank you for reminding me of Jesus’ words to me. It’s hard not to get really angry at how the left reacts. It would be so easy to respond in kind. I pray God’s grace keeps me from this reaction.

You're welcome. Anger isn't a sin. Wrath is. We can pray to give the desire of vengeance to God and not keep it locked up in us, corrupting us. He knows the best way to handle it. We don't have to. We can pray for them to heal and stop being evil.

Unfortunately I’ve sometimes felt something I would say is akin to that wrath. It feels so awful and so corrupting to my soul. I don’t want to feel it. I appreciate your distinction between the two. I know it is scriptural and demonstrated by Jesus.

I became friends with a woman because she was one of my best friends, friend.

She seemed very sweet in my opinion but I can’t say we bonded.

She had 4 kids and was always high when I saw her. But that’s her choice. No judgement, although I didn’t think it was appropriate.

One night we were chatting and Trump came up.

She turned vile. The hate spewing out of her was shocking.

I could never truly be a friend to her after that. Not because she disliked him, but she showed her true colors and it was ugly.

Like you stated in this post, I felt like she was capable of doing horrible things if she disliked you.

Kind of scary.

Sorry sweetie, no longer interested in continuing this friendship but she probably felt the same about me once she realized I wasn’t on the hate train.

Sad!

The fact that you didn't think like that she was high when you saw her while she had 4 children is a judgement, a valid one and a moral one. That is abuse on her part. It's okay to judge things as wrong. We are supposed to be able to judge people as whether or not they are a threat, and it sounds like she was a threat to her children and others whom she would deem a "Trump supporter."

The joy being expressed is very worrisome. It seems a lot of people in the USA are "clueless"... they just listen to the propaganda and keep on letting tyranny grow.

It's unnerving when you know they would do it to you as well. People in positions of power like this should not show signs that they're excited by politically prosecuting their rivals. Biden, in particular, has said basically half the country are terrorists whether they're promoting the idea that the election was unfair, want to protect children from "gender" surgeries, or if they are unvaccinated, etc. He has made it known that he thinks I'm the enemy. It's amazing... just surreal and nightmarish.

Yes, it's not just Biden's policies and wild spending that worries me. When I've listened to him blast "us" and declare us terrorists simply for questioning and disagreeing, that is worrisome. When I hear neighbors echoing the same sentiments, that worries me too. The population is too divided. We need a leader that won't foment hate!

Yes. I've said it. Biden is the MOST divisive president I've ever seen. People like to claim Trump is, but Trump didn't case the divisiveness (the media seemed to help with that). Biden specifically has labeled at least half the country as enemies.

Yes! Trump is foul mouthed, rude, abrasive and projects arrogance. But Biden is in a whole different category! Biden outright makes half the country feel directly threatened. The Biden administration promotes censorship and tyranny. Trump can even be appreciated for being open and blunt (even if some people take offense). Biden well... I've *never* heard a president as bad as him. Not to mention with the Biden administration policies I was nearly driven out of my job and made homeless. Cripes! Obama was bad but primarily the only direct impact was increased taxes. The Biden administration has destroyed freedom and the economy. Everyone that isn't very, very wealthy is suffering under Biden. Oops... I'm starting to "rant" now.

Biden with a quote today accusing Trump of “questioning our electoral system! And now he is questioning our judicial system! He must be stopped!!”

When did it become a crime to question our institutions and whether they can be trusted? I thought that was supposed to be part of the core of being an American?

Expand full comment

I wrote about this in notes earlier. Biden suggests questioning the system is wrong. This is completely backward. If you want something to be steady, it needs to be questioned, tested, and improved to make it strong and resilient. If you stop questioning things, they can have weak points that never get found out and become unstable. The best way to get to the ultimate truth and the best product/argument is to question/test it and improve based on any faults found.

Compassion and amity should be the order of the day... but above those rationality and fairness. If your case isn't strong enough to stand on its own merits, without bias or corruption, then it's wrong. I honestly think many Democrats felt as though Trump was guilty IN GENERAL and were happy to see him hang for SOMETHING, even if it corrupts and delegitimizes our system a bit...

"corrupts and delegitimizes our system" -- indeed, though methinks more than just "a bit".

Classic scene from "A Man for All Seasons" kind of nails it:

"More: Yes. What would you do? Cut a great road through the law to get after the Devil?

Roper: I'd cut down every law in England to do that!

More: Oh? And when the last law was down, and the Devil turned 'round on you, where would you hide, Roper, the laws all being flat? This country's planted thick with laws from coast to coast– man's laws, not God's– and if you cut them down—and you're just the man to do it—do you really think you could stand upright in the winds that would blow then? Yes, I'd give the Devil benefit of law for my own safety's sake."

No matter what one thinks of Trump, and I found him exhausting and chaotic, the American system has lots checks and balances. So of course we 'survived' Trump.

It was ridiculous to think he'd become a dictator -- again, give all the checks and balances.

Now, the establishment is seeking only control. Despite his promise to be a uniter, Biden is remarkably divisive, which of course, is a control tactic.

We have far more in common as Americans than Biden will ever admit. But if he holds true to form, before the election, he'll suddenly express concern about how we need to be united. Like after letting millions of unvetted migrants in, he suddenly expressed concern about the border once it was all over the news and prominent Democratic mayors were complaining. Once a gaslighter, always a gaslighter.

Note: I watched the Civil War movie. I believe the "third term" president in the movie is a stand-in for Trump, bc Trump has foolishly made comments about a "third term."

In the end, paramilitary forces drag the president from his Oval Office desk, onto the rug and shoot him point blank like a rabid coyote.

Before the bullets, a journalist stops them from shooting the prez and says something like "Wait! Mr. President, I need a quote." (How ridiculous is that dialogue?)

The president says something like , "Please help me." And the journalist says "That'll do.'

The journo pulls back, shows zero emotion, and the others kill the prez.

How absurd it is for the plot to have an unelected president squatting indefinitely in the White House.

But more importantly, it was a disturbing scene, where lawlessness and a summary execution seemed to be approved by the journalist on the scene. We should remember the prez is both a person and an office. Why normalize this by putting it on the silver screen?

I’ve gotten into the habit of extending the red flag metaphor to advise my friends that when we see a red flag waived in front of us, we should not behave like a bull in a bullring. That has gotten a lot of bulls killed.

A certain part of me wonders if we aren’t being goaded into acting violently.

Expand full comment

I've just seen a post on Twitter warning people not to act violently because that's what the other side wants. They probably are looking for January 6 2.0. A red flag means to be wary, and be hesitant to get involved with a person. It certainly doesn't mean engage with them in a physical fight. I do hope everyone reading this would understand that.

But there are people in the Drama Triangle in the left and right, and they both will attract their mirror images. I don't know what to do about that except remind people not to get caught up in the drama in that way. The way out of the Drama Triangle is to do what you can do, legally, like the voting and offering to work in the polling places, and speak up online and in person, etc.

People really need to not let their emotions get the better of them. The steady rational people are those who survive.
