Our Government's response to Natural Disasters
& WTF is FEMAs Priority Equity over Preparedness?
I don’t want to chronicle the horrible response of FEMA and other government workers to the recent flooding in the (US ) East. Truthstream Media has done an excellent job in their “What is Actually Going on in North Carolina” series. I’m going to write about the Drama Triangle below. But I think you should watch this series (Part three hasn’t been uploaded yet).
Here’s part one:
Here’s part two:
It’s better to watch this anyway, to actually see the damage and the responses from the government.
The corporate media (“news”) is supposed to be keeping the government accountable. But they’re not. We have independent media channels like Truthstream Media doing that instead. But the response from the government would be a lot different if all of the news reporting were like this series.
The US government takes our tax dollars telling us that it’s for emergencies like these and then sends the money to places and causes we don’t want to pay for, and skips out on actually helping our US citizens in need. Even one law enforcement officer was seen in a video saying not to send funds to FEMA, but to send funds to other non-profits that are actually helping.
As discussed in the part 2 video, FEMA knows their flood maps are out of date, and that caused many houses to not be considered vulnerable when they actually were. There were many things that FEMA could have done differently, but you know what their priority is? Equity. The following picture is from their website, and the second image is from their Strategic Plan PDF.
As I have been reading and listening to books on decluttering and essentialism, one thing I’ve heard a few times recently is that you can’t have more than one priority. It’s prior. The first thing you care about is the priority. Also, you can’t finally get equity instilled and then move on to the rest. They’re never going to get goal one done.
The second “priority” is Climate Resilience. The main goal of what we the people think FEMA should be about, “Readiness” (for disasters) is the third, and last goal. So, preparing for disasters, like updating flood maps and letting people know maybe they should get flood insurance so if a flood happens they aren’t SOL, that was on the backburner apparently.
Now, I know I could be seen to be painting the organization as a villain or “persecutor” here and the people who didn’t get flood insurance as “victims.” I do believe people should take that responsibility upon themselves. But when FEMA claims to be here to “protect” in these situations, they should be held accountable for being irresponsible, or derelict in their duties. They should not be funded by the taxpayers if they’re going to put the taxpayers and their interests last.
I wrote about why we should put “America first,” and by extension, I would add that we should care for the United States citizens first and not help them more or less based on their skin color or “sexual orientation”, etc. which is what FEMA seems to want to do.
Then people in the government and FEMA go on TV acting like they’re the victim. That’s basically DARVO, Deny, Attack, Reverse Victim and Offender. They don’t want to take accountability for their failures and they’ve got the corporate media eating out of their hand.
I’ve talked about responsibility shifting as playing hot potato before. If you put someone in charge (hand them responsibility) and don’t hold them accountable, they can and will be derelict, pass that responsibility to someone else, or drop it like a hot potato. This is why you need to hold people accountable or not pass that responsibility onto others in the first place.
