If you don’t like the social contract you’ve got, you don’t get to freeze your assets and take them with you (and go where, exactly?). Nobody owns anything, ownership is a claim based ultimately on nothing but force; a claim which in its making frees the claimant from obligation...neat trick! Stewardship, on the other hand, involves not only a perpetual and perceivable metric, but obligation to the other. Nothing exists except in relationship, so any act or rule or that ignores, diminishes or excludes the other, needs to be scrutinized for consistency with that concept. Your observation about locus of control seems to be an iteration of the serenity prayer, and to that extent is consistent. On the other hand, it is provable that (after inheritance), luck is by far the greatest factor in wealth distribution. No one earns a billion dollars, ELON apologist, although they may game the system and claim the wealth. Most people have no concept of a billion dollars, so here’s a helpful analogy: a million seconds is less than two weeks; a billion seconds is more than thirty years. FWIW it is extremely difficult to think in (or even about) terms order(s) of magnitude different than our lived experience. Look at your fingers...are you thinking about germs? What were the last ten things you touched? The last twenty? Everything since you last washed your hands (via the thorough method of early COVID TikToks ;)
I’ll stop now, but it’s my sense that your thinking is too libertarian to prevail.
I am sure some people think it's provable that luck is a big factor in wealth distribution, but I have other beliefs. And I don't think those will have been studied via our scientific method, so it will look like luck. I believe people earn money or abundance by their emotional and mental vibration (thoughts and emotions they're thinking and feeling). If you have a victim mentality, believe you can't make money easily, then your brain will not be able to see all of the opportunities you have to make money, for instance. Our state of mind plays a big role in that, in my opinion. I think we'll disagree on that based on your comment. But thank you for reading and commenting.
This explains why it’s luck. I don’t know what you think is missing from the scientific method, but the scientific method proves it’s luck, not vibes. Yikes.
I personally don't believe you have to, as I say in the article, but many people do end up taking actions based on that belief. It's interesting that you chose to exclude the very important first words to that sentence when you quoted it. "They think" not I think.
Freedom is essential
This is the truest thing.
